Tell Me Something New: Clare Maguire

Another promising new artist to look out for is Birmingham's Clare Maguire. The 22 year old singer is another talent to emerge through myspace and she came fifth in BBC's "Sound Of 2011" awards. Her debut album "Light After Dark" is released on 28th February 2011.

Further information can be found here:

Tell Me Somthing New: Oh Land

There are lots of great female electronic artists around at the moment and I've featured some of them on this blog - Little Boots. Ladyhawke, Ellie Goulding, Parralox...

Well, if that's your "bag", as it were, then Denmark's Oh Land (Naana Oland Fabricius to her friends) might be for you...

The Phoenix Suite...And Other Projects

A bit of a Prog Rock theme to today's entry.

Heather Findlay - Former Mostly Autumn vocalist Heather Findlay is due to release her debut solo work. The Phoenix Suite EP is the first EP in a series of four. More details here as I find out myself!

Panic Room - Have unveiled their blog site here on jolly old blogspot!. This can be found at here:

Meanwhile readers of "Classic Rock Presents Prog" magazine have voted Anne Marie Helder # 1 in the Best Female Vocalist Category - which is thoroughly deserved in my opinion. This months issue also contains a three page feature on Geoff Downes "Electronica" album (mentioned in my previous post) which features interviews with Geoff and Anne Marie.

Liam Davison  - Liam is a long time member of Mostly Autumn and releases his debut solo album "A Treasure of Well Set Jewels" in March. I pre-ordered the album so it arrived unexpectedly through my letterbox last week! A short video about the album can be viewed here:

Breathing Space - I've mentioned the band Breathing Space several times in this blog. Sadly last month the group broke up. Founder member Iain Jennings posted this message on the Breathing Space website

"After a lot of thought and deliberation, we are sorry to announce that Breathing Space has decided to disband.

We would like to thank everyone that has supported us over the last few years. It has been an exciting and wonderful journey and we have all enjoyed every moment. Whereas I am very sad that this project has come to an end, as one door closes another door opens, so watch this space..."

Sad news. A great little band in their time. Some good music and some great memories to treasure

Anderson Wakeman...And Rabin - A few things seem to be happening in the world of the Yes alumni. First of all Jon Anderson's AOR flavoured 1988 album "In The City Of Angels" is due for CD reissue later this month. Secondly Rick Wakeman announced on his website that Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and himself were putting  band together to tour and perform - so watch this space!

Meanwhile a limited edition internet only DVD release of shows from Yes's 1991's "Union" tour is available here:

And, just in case you didn't know, Jon & Ricks's album "The Living Tree" is available here:
