Karnataka Split

Read this message on the Karnataka Facebook page on Tuesday...

"Dear Karnataka fans and friends...

Karnataka is set to begin a new chapter following the announcement that Lisa, Ian Harris and Gonzalo will be leaving the band.

We look forward to bringing you further news and line up announcements in the near future.

We also look forward to seeing you on the road!

Thank you for your wonderful support!

We wish Lisa, Gonzalo & Ian Harris all the best

As one door closes another opens..."

This came as a complete shock. Their most recent album "The Gathering Light" is not only a fine album but was gaining great reviews and very healthy sales and the feeling was that this was a band heading for bigger things.

On a personal level they were my next gig - I was due to see them at The Robin 2 next Wednesday with my friend Dave - and this has now been cancelled. Oddly enough I was due to see them at the Cambridge Rock Festival last year but due to time constraints they were told they couldn't go on. I sent a text to my friend Dave on Wednesday saying "I think we're just destined not to see this band!"

Anyway - and this is mainly for Dave ("Hi Dave") - here's a clip of a previous incarnation of Karnataka filmed in New Jersey in 2002. Fascinating stuff. Two bonus points for each member you can name... :)

Tell Me Something New: A Fine Frenzy

This month's artist is A Fine Frenzy. They released their debut album "One Cell In The Sea" in 2007 and released their second "Bomb In A Birdcage" last year.

Essentially A Fine Frenzy is American singer-songwriter Alison Sudol and although she has had hit singles in mainland Europe she hasn't really appeared on the radar over here.

I came across her music a couple of weeks ago and I rather like it. See what you think.

Ronnie James Dio

I was saddened this moning to hear of the death of Ronnie James Dio, aged just 67.

Ronnie was one of the all time great rock vocalists. He had a huge heart and a powerful voice and that shone through all of his work - with Rainbow, with Black Sabbath and later with Heaven & Hell and his own band Dio.

He was much loved and he will be much missed. A true Rock N Roll legend.

Aphrodite

Here's the rather fabulous cover of the forthcoming album by Her Divine Kylieness entitled "Aphrodite".

The debut single is "All The Lovers" and you can hear it here

About Damn Time!

Anyone who bought the first wave of ELO CD Remasters in 2001 may recall a reference to a website called www.elo.biz. Well a mere nine years later the website is finally up and running!

Nothing too dramatic up there at the moment, no real news and no biographical information that the average ELO fan wouldn't already know but it's already worth a visit for a range of ELO Tee shirts you can buy from the online store. Encouraging...
