Thunderstruck!

Sad to hear that one of the great underrated British rock bands - Thunder - are calling it a day after 20 years. Was it really 16 years ago that I saw them supporting Def Leppard at Don Valley? Flippin' Hell...!!

Anyway, they're embarking on a '20 Years & Out' Farewell Tour which reaches sunny Wolverhampton in July. So before today's match (which we won 3-1!) I went to the Civic Box Office & got myself a ticket. See you down at the front somewhere, getting 'Thunderstruck' one last time...

The Wishing Tree

As part of my ongoing quest to promote wistful Progressive Rock bands who may not otherwise receive the publicity they deserve, here comes another one: The Wishing Tree.

The Wishing Tree are Steve Rothery of Marillion on guitar with vocals by the fetching Hannah Stobart (pictured). They have a new album "Ostara" released on 23rd March.

They have been my friends on myspace for some time so you can find further details on my myspace page (see links) and the album can be ordered via the Marillion website:

OM!!

John Wetton & Geoff Downes release "Icon 3" on 13th March and this is what the cover looks like...

Preceding the album is a showcase gig at St Mary-Le-Bow Church in London which is already sold out. The concert will be filmed for a future DVD release and sees John & Geoff joined onstage by (among others) Ann-Marie Helder of Panic Room/Mostly Autumn.

Patrick McGoohan (1928-2009)

Really sad to hear the news of Patrick McGoohan's passing today.

"The Prisoner" was such a huge influenence on me and on all of my closest friends growing up that I felt I had to post something here. RIP Patrick...

A Shameless Plug!

I'm a bit reluctant to do this as it seems like I'm blowing my own trumpet but I figure if I can't use my own blog site to publicise a book that I'm in then it's a bit of a poor show really! So here goes...

"Poets 2008: The Midlands" published by Forward Press is out now. My poem "The View From Here" is on page 486. The link on Amazon can be found here (just to prove I'm not making this up!)

OK. Commercial break over. Moving on...
