We stayed in a hotel in Tower Hill (coveniently just down the road from a Wetherspoons, where we spent Friday afternoon!) before travelling to the gig in North Greenwich via West Ham.
The atmosphere at the gig was electric. Everyone seemed to 'get' that this wasn't simply another Arena tour by a successful group. This was an event. This was a bit of pop history in the making.
If you didn't see this series of concerts then it was very likely that you would never get the opportunity again.
The concert itself was high energy, lavish, glamorous, theatrical and spectacular. The Spice Girls themselves were on fine form. They all looked fabulous and there seemed to be a genuine camaradarie between them onstage.
All the hits were present and correct from 'Spice Up Your Life' which kicked things off to 'Wannabe' which formed part of the encore.
Highlights? Far too many to choose from quite honestly. Special mentions have to go to a rousing version of 'Who Do You Think You Are', where dancers using Union Jack flags peeled away to reveal Geri Halliwell in a diamante Union Jack dress, recalling an iconic moment (and outfit!) from the Brit Awards; the 40's-style 'The Lady Is A Vamp' from the second album, delivered as it was meant to be by all five Spice Girls - an unexpected suprise; 'It's Raining Men', Geri's chance to shine and Mel C's wonderful 'I Turn To You', transformed into a rave anthem complete with stobe lights and lasers. Could just as easily picked another ten tracks as highlights though...
We all had a fantastic time. For me it was a heartwarming and strangely emotional experience to see all five Spice Girls reunited on stage. You sensed how much this meant to all of them (especially Geri) and indeed how much it meant to the fans to be a part of that celebration. If this is to be the Spice Girls swan song then what a way to go out!
Don't you just love a happy ending...?

Morcheeba have a new album coming out soon called "Dive Deep". Two tracks from the album feature lead vocals and are co-written by Judie Tzuke, including the first single called "Enjoy The Ride".
It's not available for download until 28th January, but some kind soul has posted an audio only version on You Tube.
I think it's a lovely track & if there's any justice it should return Judie to the charts after a 29 year absence.

Happy new Year!!
So how was 2007 for you? For me it was heavy going at times; a year with some ups and some real downs. Even more so for some of my closest friends.
My hope for you - whoever you are reading this - is that you begin 2008 with energy and purpose and end the year a better person than when you started it. I pray for a least one thing that surprises and delights you and for hope, health and happiness throughout the journey.
And one more thing. In the words of Stevie Wonder’s superb song “Love’s In Need Of Love Today”. The world can be a dark place sometimes and it needs the love and light that is uniquely yours to give. Don’t let fear, cynicism, anger or low self-esteem stop you.
