Well it's been quite a bumper fun packed day today! Wolves beat a dour Coventry team (but left it very late!) meanwhile in the rugby England dumped Australia out of the World Cup! I was at Molineux at the time and although no one had announced it the news travelled round the ground like a wave and all sections of the ground broke into a chorus of "Swing Low Sweet Chariot". Fabulous.
On top of that Albion lost away at Southampton and in our Harvest Supper/Quiz this evening we came joint first - so happy days all round!
Musically this week belonged to the Spice Girls, who sold out 14 shows at the O2 Arena in the space of a week! Their first gig sold out in 38 seconds! They release a 'Greatest Hits' album on 12th November in three different formats (standard CD version, CD + DVD and a box set edition) which will be preceded by a new single called 'Headlines'.
Anyway - other news on the music front...
Paul McCartney - Macca releases "Ever Present Past" as a single on October 22nd. On the same day he plays a concert at the Paris Olympia which should be a fantastic gig if you can get tickets for it. Macca is also due to play Anfield Stadium on 1st June 2008 as part of Liverpool's City Of Culture celebrations. A 3 DVD box set "The McCartney Years" is also scheduled for release on November 13th - taking in two DVD's worth of promotional videos and a third disc of live footage.
Amy Grant - Amy's autobiography "Mosaic: Pieces Of My Life So Far" is published on 16th October. Amy's back catalogue is now also available on i-tunes which, speaking as someone with rather worn out 18 year old cassette copies of "Unguarded", "Straight Ahead" and "The Collection" is welcome news indeed!
Tom Petty - Tom Petty published his autobiography "Runnin' Down A Dream" on Monday 1st October.
Lisa Scott-Lee - Congratulations go out to Lisa and her husband Johnny who are expecting their first child, as announced on Lisa's myspace site this week.
Carol Decker - As she's posted a personal message on my myspace site to tell me this, it's more that my life's worth not to tell you that Carol Decker's debut solo single "Just Dream" is now available to download from i-tunes.
I haven't posted any videos up here for a while, so here's a few to be getting on with.

"I wanted to include this on Tea & Symphony Volume III in the summer of last year but it resolutely refused to burn onto CD - so here it is instead. A good little song that sadly disappeared down the back of pop's great sofa. Thoughtful lyrics too...as you would expect from Uncle Nik..."

The Move - Wild Tiger Woman

"Vintage clip of The Move from 1969. The write up on You Tube describes it as 'one of their hits'. It wasn't: the single flopped in 1968. In a world where Duran Duran receive a lifetime achievement award at The Brits - isn't it time Roy Wood was similarly honoured?"
